Hi. I'm Jana.

I'm a Graphic Designer by day, currently helping to enhance the face of the Twin Cities Commercial Real Estate Market. And well, a Graphic Designer by night, drawing with marker on paper, working on a freelance project for a small business client or perhaps painting sneakers... Anyway, the point is, I design. It was and is my first and longest love. I'm excited to share it with you!

The gems on this site are happening right now. There are works produced in my current role as Senior Graphic Designer at Cushman & Wakefield, pieces I designed for a non-profit organization I adore - the Twin Cities Film Fest, and a few other things just for fun.

I love what I do. Why? I have always been a creator, an anxious brain that was and is best calmed through the creation of marks on paper, doodles, aimless spirals, words. I'm the one in your brainstorming sessions who's constantly drawing. Starting each day is like opening a can of mystery soup and diving right in. I love the collaboration and synergy that magically links creative brains, I love sharing what I do with folks who aren't so familiar with how we can serve them, and who maybe struggle to visualize solutions. My favorite stage of any project is right at the beginning, when there are still endless possible paths for our project to walk down, and we get to explore which is going to lead us to the client's desired outcome.

My favorite thing about being a designer has easily and by far been the opportunity to make a difference for the client. I spent a lot of my career prior to Cushman, working as a full-time independent contractor in various small business agency and in-house settings. In those roles I became a master client advocate. I'm proud of my ability to adeptly navigate the waters of client communications with a relative level of ease. And every now and then my heart swells with pride, when I see a client do something big with a brand they once introduced me to in a napkin sketch, and trusted me to help them bring to life. Watching those early stick-figure dreams become someone's very real livelihood is probably the best feeling ever.

I do like other stuff - skee ball, baseball hats, hard cider... Did I mention sneakers? I'm on a mission to visit every MLB park, which has been a fun adventure. I can't sleep at night until I've finished the NY Times Spelling Bee and I love grilled cheese.
